Choosing an Architect
Whether you are interested in designing a custom home or commercial building. or adding on to your existing home or remodeling your office, you will need an experienced architect to assist you. There are many architects to choose from, but you need one who will be working with you to accomplish your goals, while designing to the Florida Building Codes and the NFPA Life-Safety Codes, and bringing architectural experience of design and technology, to your project. Here are a few things to keep in mind when selecting an architect.
Architectural Experience
First you must be sure that this architect is registered in the State of Florida. Next, are they familiar with the Central Florida area and the municipalities that govern the issuance of building permits ? Have they worked on projects similar to yours ? Make sure that they have been in practice in this area for years and have examples of their work.
Architectural Design
Your project will be unique to you and your experiences, therefore the architect must be interested in your specific needs and will be asking you many questions. The earlier you select your architect, the better to utilize his skills, from site location, zoning issues, municipal planning regulations, to the availability of materials and structural systems.
The architect you choose will be specifically designing an environment for you to live and/or work. An architect should be comfortable with your aesthetics and creative enough to provide multiple style suggestions to assist you in making your selections.
